From booking the movers to updating your home insurance, Miami homeowners have a lot to organize when moving house or apartment. Here’s a quick checklist to guide you.
• Create a moving budget to help avoid finances getting out of hand.
• Make a list of your possessions. This is essential in determining the size of vehicle that you need.
• Phone around moving companies for quotes and book a mover. Make a note to call again the week before the move (or by the date specified by the mover) to confirm.
• Start collecting moving boxes, bubble wrap, newspapers and tape.
• Book a carpet cleaner and pest controller if required.
• Contact utilities providers to advise them of the date of your move and to organize for power, gas, phone and Internet to be available as soon as you arrive.
• Make a list of companies you will need to notify with your change of address.
• Arrange for mail to be forwarded to your new address.
• Back up computer data, and set a space/box/bag for important files, documents.
